Learn More About Laser Skin Rejuvenation
How Does It Work?
The Sciton laser system is a multi-purpose erbium:YAG device that restores the youthful appearance of your skin and improves its texture, tone, and feel. Three modalities—Contour, MicroLaser Peel, and ProFractional—can be combined at the same time for maximal benefit. The Sciton laser can be used on the face, neck, chest, and hands. The Contour is considered the “home run” of laser treatments for full-field facial resurfacing.
The Halo by Sciton is the only laser capable of both ablative and non-ablative treatment. Collagen production is stimulated deep in the dermal tissues while the surface damage is gently removed for renewed, refreshed skin cells. The versatility of this laser makes for a more complete treatment.
Laser peels can be stand-alone or in combination with other treatments. Levy Dermatology offers the Restore Peel, which starts with BBL™ BroadBand Light treatment, followed by a MicroLaserPeel®, followed by
ProFractional™ therapy, for a complete but low down-time rejuvenation of the skin! This treatment evens tone, firms skin, removes fine lines, and stimulates collagen. The South Beach Peel™ begins with a BBL™ treatment, followed by a shallow to medium micro laser peel to remove the damaged outside layers of the epidermis for improved tone and a beautiful glow. Contour + ProFractional™ Therapy is the best of both worlds, beginning with resurfacing to remove lines. Then microchannels are created to stimulate collagen production deep in the dermis. Ablation at the right depth burns back the clock for beautifully smooth, luminous skin. NanoLaserPeel™ uses light energy to instantly remove the top layers of the skin at a depth that also accelerates the skin’s own renewal process by activating special messenger proteins. Get smoother, younger-looking skin with one easy treatment and no downtime!

Am I A Good Candidate?
Laser skin resurfacing can be very specific to your particular skin condition, Fitzpatrick skin type, and the type of laser treatments available. The best place to start is with a comprehensive consultation at Levy Dermatology.
What Is The Treatment Like?
Your treatment begins with a thorough cleanse of the treatment area and your eyes will be protected with safety shields. A laser handpiece will be positioned gently on the skin. The handpiece will be moved around the entire treatment area for full coverage. The procedure normally takes 15 to 30 minutes but can take an hour for deeper resurfacing.
MLP and ProFractional therapies are widely regarded as comfortable with topical numbing cream or local anesthetic, depending on the depth of the treatment. Contour laser resurfacing requires regional nerve blocks and local anesthetics to make the procedure virtually pain-free.
Halo’s cooling technology keeps discomfort at a minimum, and numbing cream is available to tolerate what most patients liken to a rubber band snapping on the skin.
Laser peels are similar in terms of sensation and remove surface skin damage with a variety of tools and technologies. The peel you’ve chosen determines your treatment time, depth of treatment, and recovery.
Is There Any Down Time?
Any ablative resurfacing laser treatment is a serious procedure. You will need to plan for 4-7+ days of downtime as your new skin is healing and regenerating, depending on the depth of your treatment. Your dermatologist may recommend medication to help during the procedure and can do special anesthetic injections to help with the discomfort. You will also be offered a cold air blower during treatment to increase your comfort during the procedure. Some of the laser peel options have little to no discomfort, depending on the combination you’ve chosen and can be quickly done without anesthesia.
What Results Will I See?
A timeline of results depends on which laser skin resurfacing treatment you’ve undergone. The Restore Peel and the NanoLaser Peel™ may give you an immediate radiance, while the deeper procedures like Contour, ProFractional Therapy, and Halo may take a week of healing before results emerge. The deeper the laser skin resurfacing treatment, the longer lasting your results, and with the technologies available at Levy Dermatology, you can be assured you’re receiving the best care possible with the greatest results available on the market.
