What Are Wrinkles & Fine Lines?
While wrinkles are generally caused by the natural aging process, there are things that can advance that process and cause deeper, more prominent wrinkles to form. Exposure to the sun’s UV rays is considered the biggest cause of wrinkles and fine lines, but everything from smoking to repeated facial expressions can contribute to the effects of wrinkles on your face.
Repeated facial expressions like smiling causes grooves to form just beneath the surface of your skin. As you age, your skin loses its flexibility and elasticity. So, the more you repeat those facial movements, the harder it becomes for your skin to bounce back. As a result, wrinkles and fine lines form in those areas.

What Treatments Are Available?
If you’re already dealing with fine lines and wrinkles, there are a few different treatment options used at Levy Dermatology that can help to restore your skin’s youthful glow, including:
BOTOX® Cosmetic – Lines that are dynamic–that is, that are produced on muscle movement respond uniquely well to BOTOX® Cosmetic. The neurotoxins in BOTOX® Cosmetic will enhance your facial features and provide you with more youthful-looking skin. BOTOX® Cosmetic uses a highly-purified form of the neurotoxin botulinum Type A, which is safe and effective.
Dermal Fillers – Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid to naturally plump your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles almost instantly. Levy Dermatology offers injectables in the JUVEDERM®, Restylane®, BELOTERO®, and Radiesse® families of fillers.
HALO Laser – This hybrid fractional laser uses ablative wavelengths to gently exfoliate the topmost layers of dull, aged skin. Non-ablative wavelengths penetrate the deeper tissue triggering a skin-healthy collagen response.
What Results Will I See?
Your results will vary depending on which treatment you receive, but you can expect to see a notable reduction of fine lines and wrinkles after treatment. If you receive BOTOX® Cosmetic, results can take 3-7 days to appear. For dermal filler treatment, results will be instantaneous and improve over the next several weeks. Moreover, it may take a week or longer to see results with laser or microneedling treatments depending on severity, treatment depth, etc.
Is There Any Downtime?
You can expect minimal downtime with any of our anti-aging treatments. Depending on the depth of your treatment, you may have 1-7 days of initial recovery. During this time, it is important to minimize sun exposure with protective clothing and high-SPF sunscreen. Your Levy Dermatology provider will customize a post-treatment recovery plan that will help you maximize your results.
