Hair removal can eat up money and time while the hair keeps growing back no matter what. Laser hair removal can reduce hair growth, so you enjoy smooth skin that lasts. While these results will take multiple sessions to achieve, you can enjoy the benefits of no more waxing or shaving afterward.
Shaving, waxing, or other hair removal methods leave the hair follicle intact. These follicles will quickly start to regrow hair. Laser hair removal works by targeting the hair follicles. Hair roots contain melanin that gives hair its color. The laser heats these pigment particles, heating them and deactivating the hair follicles. These damaged follicles will stop growing new hairs.
Not all hair follicles are active at the same time, so you will need more than one session to remove all the hair. Treatment does not work on resting follicles that contain no hair. Between treatments, more of these resting follicles will become active. Most people need six to nine treatments six weeks apart to see total hair removal. After each session, you will see less and less hair regrowth.
We recommend several steps to ensure your laser hair removal works as well as possible.
After laser hair removal, you may see some hair regrowth. These few hairs can be managed with maintenance treatments that deactivate any follicles that regrow hair. Many people find that yearly maintenance keeps them smooth and hair-free. While some hairs will return, they will be sparse, thin, and easy to treat.
Good candidates for laser hair removal want long-term results and understand this will take several months. This treatment may not be ideal for people with very light blond, red, or white hair since this hair may not have enough pigment. Our lasers only target Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-III. Only a consultation can determine whether laser hair removal will work for you.
You may have some redness and sensitivity after treatment. Avoid sun exposure and use sun protection while your skin heals. Harsh or irritating products may bother your skin for a few days after treatment.
