Dr. Alexander Hicks completed his undergraduate coursework at Middle Tennessee State University with dual degrees in Chemistry and Biology. He went on attend medical school at East Tennessee State University, finishing among the top of his class while also being inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and receiving the Merck Manual academic achievement award upon graduation. He then completed dermatology residency training at Vanderbilt University, serving as a chief resident during his final year. Finally, Dr. Hicks completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology (MSDO) Fellowship at St. Louis University.
Dr. Hicks specializes in surgical dermatology, including Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology. He has published several peer-reviewed journal articles in the fields of dermatology and dermatologic surgery, and has presented at numerous local and national meetings.
Dr. Hicks is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Medical Association.
In addition to his career in dermatologic surgery and cutaneous oncology, Dr. Hicks also remains actively involved in the teaching and mentoring of medical students and resident physicians for medical licensure and board certification exams through Blueprint Test Prep, where he serves as a senior-level consultant.
