What Is The Difference Between Juvederm Vollure & Juvederm Voluma?

Nothing gives away our age more than our face. Whether it is sagging skin, fine lines, wrinkles, or loss of facial volume, all of these issues are natural and show signs of aging more than on other parts of the body. Two revolutionary products on the market to treat these common signs of aging are Juvederm Vollure and Juvederm Voluma.

Juvederm Vollure

Juvederm Vollure is a dermal filler that is the first and only to be approved by the FDA for treating deep wrinkles and facial folds. It is an injectable, which is designed specifically to treat areas around the corners of the mouth as well as around the nose. It is softer than other similar dermal fillers, which contributes to its long-lasting results.

Vollure Treatment Areas

Vollure is typically used to treat:

  • Marionette lines (the lines that develop from the corners of the mouth to the jaw)
  • Nasolabial folds (the wrinkles that form between the corners of the mouth to the nose)
  • Mild to moderate facial wrinkles and lines

Vollure Procedure and Results
Juvederm Vollure is injected right below the skin with a tiny needle. The filler contains lidocaine, which helps to reduce any mild pain or discomfort during the procedure, so it is common for the doctor to pause between injections to ensure the lidocaine is working. It is also typical for the specialist to lightly massage the treatment areas to smooth and shape the filler.

Vollure requires no downtime, and patients can return to their normal activities immediately following the procedure. Results have been show to last up to 18 months following the injection, making it one of the longest lasting fillers on the market.

Juvederm Voluma

Juvederm Voluma is the first and only FDA-approved filler to treat age-related volume loss in the cheeks. Utilizing hyaluronic acid, a natural substance in the body that contributes to skin firmness, Voluma provides instant volume and lift to the cheek region, giving all of the benefits of a facelift without the invasive surgery.

Voluma Treatment Areas

Voluma is used to add volume to the cheek region and provide an overall lift to the face.

Voluma Procedure and Results

Similar to Vollure, Voluma is also injected directly below the skin with a small needle. Although Voluma is noticeably thicker than other dermal fillers (it takes a thicker gel to fully plump up the cheek region), it, too, contains lidocaine, so pain is minimal to nonexistent.

Results from Voluma can be seen immediately, with instant plumpness and volume being added to the cheeks. These results typically last up to two years following the procedure.
