JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®

Age-related volume loss of the underlying structures of the face can cause the face to lose definition and balance, changing its shape. These changes can make a person appear older than they really are.

In October 2013, the FDA approved a new hyaluronic acid dermal filler from Allergan called Juvéderm Voluma®. This unique filler is manufactured with patented Vycross™ technology that delivers an instant, yet long-lasting lift.

Volume restoration treatment with Juvéderm Voluma® gives the face a more youthful contour and a smoother, natural-looking lift, without surgery, by plumping up the areas that lose volume as part of the aging process.

HOW IS VOLUMA® DIFFERENT?

Juvéderm Voluma® is the first FDA-approved filler to correct age-related volume loss in the mid-face and can be used to fill and lift the mid-face and cheeks and to reduce nasolabial folds.

Juvéderm Voluma® uses a new cross-linking technology to bind the hyaluronic acid molecules. It produces the lift and fill needed for mid-face applications and contributes to its long-lasting properties.

Studies have shown that with optimal treatment, results can last up to two years. Like other hyaluronic-based fillers, Voluma injections have minimal side effects.

WHY GO TO LEVY DERMATOLOGY?

Juvéderm Voluma® treatments require background education and experience to avoid any complications. It is recommended that a physician with specific training in facial anatomy and injections perform this procedure. You want to be under the care of a board-certified dermatologist, such as Dr. Levy and Dr. Levine, who have received specific training for this filler.

WHO SHOULD USE JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®?

The best candidates for Juvéderm Voluma® are adults who have sinking cheeks and want long-lasting restoration (1-to-2 years) with no-downtime.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR VOLUMA®?

We administer Juvéderm Voluma® injections in our offices. The procedure typically takes about 15 minutes. The gel formula contains lidocaine, to minimize discomfort, so there is no need for additional anesthesia.

The results are visible immediately after the procedure. There is very little or no downtime following a treatment. Most patients can resume their typical daily activities right after treatment.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF VOLUMA®?

While Voluma® is considered a safe form of treatment, all injectable dermal fillers are associated with some risk of side effects. The most commonly occurring side effects that may result from Voluma® treatment include swelling, bruising, tenderness, formation of a lump, firmness to the skin, redness, itching, discoloration or pain at the injection site. When these arise, they are generally mild to moderate and resolve within a few weeks.
