Wrinkle reduction is one of the most commonly requested treatments across the globe. With modern, non-surgical options, we’re able to combat existing wrinkles as well as prevent future wrinkles from forming with a simple in-office visit. Millions of men and women trust injectables to get them the natural-looking results they want, but with so many options, it can be hard to decipher which is best on your own.
At Levy Dermatology Jackson, we offer two distinct types of injectables for wrinkle reduction. Depending on your individual needs and goals, you may be better suited for one or both of the following treatment options. While this blog may give you a starting point, it’s best to meet with a skilled Levy Dermatology injector who can determine the right route to take for your specific concerns.
Neurotoxins like Botox® Cosmetics are ideal for treating deep, dynamic wrinkles that have been caused by repetitive facial movements. These types of injectables are primarily used on the upper portion of the face but can also be beneficial for various concerns throughout the face and neck. Treatment is done in-office, and no downtime is needed.
Once injected Botox® works to temporarily relax muscles by blocking nerve-muscle communication. While some initial results can be seen within 7 days of treatment, an optimal outcome can take 2 weeks for most patients. The lasting effects of Botox® depends on the severity and location of your concerns. In most cases, you can expect neurotoxin-based injectables to last around 3 months.
Neurotoxins & Dermal Fillers Consultations Available
Dermal fillers are another great treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, and facial folds. There is a wide range of formulas specifically designed for treating a variety of concerns. Levy Dermatology Jackson primarily uses hyaluronic-acid (HA) based fillers such as Restylane® & Juvéderm® collections. HA is a naturally-occurring substance found within the body making it safe and effective for nearly anyone.
Dermal fillers take just a few minutes to apply. They work by plumping and hydrating the skin from within and have near-instant results. The longevity of fillers can vary significantly. Generally, dermal fillers offer long-term wrinkle reduction with results lasting anywhere from 6- 24 months.
Neurotoxins Vs. Fillers: Which is Best?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer for every patient. However, if you’re bothered by wrinkles caused by constant facial expressions, Botox® could be the best route to take for reduction and wrinkle prevention. Dermal fillers are often better suited for patients dealing with facial volume loss wrinkles on the lower half of the face such as marionette lines, smoker’s lines, and nasolabial folds. Regardless of the injectable chosen, each treatment plan is highly tailored to your individual needs and concerns.
There are many instances in which several injectables are used to create total facial rejuvenation. This procedure is known as a non-surgical facelift or “liquid facelift”. Your Levy Dermatology injector will help determine the best course of action during your initial consultation phase.
