Our Board- Certified Dermatologists recommend getting a full-body skin check annually at the very least. Whether it’s for cosmetic purposes or a medical necessity, a patient may opt to have a mole removed. Like other skin care procedures, it depends on a few factors. Let’s take a look at what they are.
What Goes Into the Cost of My Mole Removal?
The first thing to consider is the procedure itself– what is the most effective way to remove it? During your full-body skin check or cosmetic consultation, your provider will suggest which procedure is best for you. At Levy Dermatology, we use the following techniques:
Shave or Punch Biopsy
Depending on the size of the lesion, type of mole, and the patient, a simple shave or punch biopsy is the quickest and simplest solution to remove a non-malignant mole.
Used for a variety of skin lesions, excisions can be used for mole removal as well. During this procedure, your provider will not only remove the mole itself but a margin of normal-looking skin around it to ensure complete removal and to prevent further damage to the skin. The wound is then closed with deep, long sutures, and the healing process can begin.
Mole Removal Consultations Available
This procedure is generally used for preventative measures as well as aesthetic ones. If it is preventative, your provider will send the removed area to a lab for pathological examination to ensure the complete removal of any cancer.
What Will I Pay?
Mole removal costs can vary greatly, ranging from $150 to $2000 depending on your insurance plan. The total cost may also depend on the diagnosis, size, and location of the lesion. To get an accurate estimate, we recommend an in-office visit. Our team can provide you with a full screening, accurate estimates, and the skilled hands to help you through the process. At Levy Dermatology, we’re here to help you along the way in the most effective way possible.
