How Does Microneedling Work to Improve My Skin?

Our age and beauty are often defined by the overall tone and texture of our skin. Fine lines, wrinkles, and scars can leave us looking years older than we actually are. Fortunately, microneedling can help us achieve a more youthful appearance without the downtime associated with more invasive procedures.

SkinPen Memphis & Collierville

At Levy Dermatology, we use a revolutionary microneedling device called SkinPen®. It’s a state-of-the-art medical-grade microneedling tool perfect for all skin types. SkinPen® causes micro-injuries that can trigger the body’s natural healing process and stimulate collagen production.

SkinPen® is a highly versatile treatment. Both the depth and the angle of the micro-needle can be customized based on the thickness of your skin and treatment area. SkinPen® can be done to correct fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.

The procedure can be done in as little as 30-60 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated and the severity of your condition. Before your treatment, one of our nurses or aestheticians will apply a topical anesthetic agent to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. They’ll then use the SkinPen® to precisely target predetermined problem areas.

After your treatment, you’ll be able to return to your normally scheduled activities immediately. Some patients may experience minor swelling and redness for 1-2 days. In rare instances, side effects won’t fully dissipate for up to 4-days.

SkinPen® leaves you with an instantly smoother complexion. Gradual improvement will continue to occur as cellular turnover occurs. Several treatments may be required to achieve your desired results. At your in-person consultation, a nurse or aesthetician will complete a full facial evaluation to determine if SkinPen® may be right for you.
