How Does BroadBand Light Work?

BBL™ BroadBand Light treatments are non-ablative, so they do not break the skin. The BBL™ laser delivers a bright blast of light at very high energy levels through a hand-held device that specifically targets pigments in the skin, such as age spots or sun damage.

This energy breaks up the unwanted spots and heats the top layer of skin to renew your skin cells for a clearer, more even complexion. BBL™ can treat the face, chest, neck, and hands with minimal to no downtime and a low risk of side effects in about 30 minutes.

BBL™ laser technology is best for patients seeking improvement with sun damage, age spots, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, redness, and lines and wrinkles. Your Levy Dermatology specialist can determine if Forever Young BBL™ treatment will achieve your cosmetic goals.

The photothermal energy of a Forever Young BBL™ treatment heats the skin and stimulates new collagen production while simultaneously breaking up the pigment in age spots and sun damage. Each pass of the BBL™ laser wand may include a different filter to target a different skin concern you have, but overall, your treatment can be completed within 30 minutes. Patients report Forever Young BBL™ treatment produces only mild discomfort, so topical anesthetic, while available, is not necessary.

There is generally very little downtime associated with Forever Young BBL™ treatments. Patients may experience mild redness or flushing of the skin, which resolves within a few hours. Those patients getting treatment for dark spots and hyperpigmentation will experience a temporary darkening of those spots, which then flake and fade away within 1-2 weeks.

A series of BBL™ treatments can significantly improve the texture and quality of your skin and reduce the appearance of sun damage and signs of aging gradually and naturally, for a more youthful appearance. Forever Young BBL™ treatments have shown remarkable results for patients whose appearance seems to be years younger than their actual age. Although improvement will be seen after one treatment, optimal results are achieved with 4-6 treatments spaced 3-4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments once or twice a year may help prolong your younger, fresh, and glowing complexion for years to come.
