What is Cellulite, and How Can You Get Rid of It?

Cellulite Memphis

Nine out of ten women deal with at least some cellulite, and most want to get rid of it. Many factors contribute to developing cellulite. Fortunately, the FDA has approved non-surgical Qwo® to treat cellulite. This injectable treatment breaks up cellulite for smoother, un-dimpled skin.

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite has many underlying causes, including genetics and hormonal factors. Contrary to what many believe, you cannot exercise away cellulite, and even slim people can develop it. Cellulite develops when bands of collagen fibers form under the skin, holding the skin down and causing dimples. These fibrous bands also force the fat cells between them to bulge outward, giving the skin a lumpy appearance. As skin becomes thinner with age, cellulite can become more noticeable.

How Can You Get Rid of Cellulite?

Previous treatments for cellulite rarely gave people the results they wanted. With Qwo®, your Levy Dermatology provider has a minimally invasive and highly effective way to treat cellulite. This FDA-approved injectable treatment breaks up the fibrous bands, releasing dimples and redistributing fat. Qwo® gives you visible, long-lasting results.

How Does Qwo® Work on Cellulite?

Qwo® targets the bands of collagen fibers that cause the appearance of cellulite. Enzymes called collagenases target the types of collagen that form these bands. These enzymes break down the fibrous bands to release skin dimples. No longer squeezed between bands, your fat cells can redistribute into a smoother, more even appearance.

How Many Qwo® Treatments Do I Need for Cellulite?

You will need a series of treatments to see the full results of Qwo®. Most people have three treatments three weeks apart. Following these three sessions, most people will not need another one and will not require maintenance treatments.

What Results Will I See With Qwo®?

Results from Qwo® can become visible within a few weeks of your first treatment. You may need several months to see your complete results develop. After your series of Qwo® injections, you can expect long-lasting results. Since Qwo®’s release, people have seen their effects last more than four years, and they may last much longer.

Is There Any Downtime With Qwo®?

The most common effects you will notice after Qwo® are bruising and swelling. These will be most noticeable in the first few days after treatment, but they can take a week or two to fade. You can go back to work or do other activities after treatment.

Am I a Good Candidate for Qwo®?

The FDA has approved Qwo® for moderate to severe cellulite in women’s buttocks. If you have cellulite, Qwo® might make a good choice for you. Good candidates have reasonable expectations and have not had a reaction to a similar treatment.
