Aging affects us all. Over time, visible signs begin to pop up in the mirror or in photos of ourselves. You may gradually notice fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, or age spots. The areas most affected are those exposed to years of harmful UV rays such as the face, neck, chest, and hands. The good news is, we no longer have to undergo invasive surgical procedures with extensive downtime to deal with early-onset aging.

At Levy Dermatology, we offer three state-of-the-art treatments to maximize your results with as little recovery as possible. Laser skin rejuvenation procedures are done in-office on an outpatient basis. Treatments are customized to your individual needs and may include; Contour, MicroLaser Peel, and/or ProFractional.

Although downtime can vary, it’s ultimately up to you to decide what you’re comfortable with. You’re free to opt for a single ablative procedure or choose multiple lighter treatments with less downtime to achieve the results you want.

So, what downtime can you expect?

  • ProFractional Laser Rejuvenation has little to no downtime depending on the setting. Some patients only have 1-2 days of minor pinkness while others experience redness or swell up to 7-days.
  • MicroLaser Peel (MLP) is a shallow ablative procedure that offers exceptional results with just 3-4 days of downtime.
  • Contour laser treatments by Sciton are a deeper ablative procedure that requires a good deal of recovery. Anywhere from 10-14 days of downtime is often associated with this procedure.

No matter which
skin rejuvenation treatment you opt for, you’ll need to take some initiative to ensure a speedy recovery. Because your skin will be ultra-sensitive to sun exposure, you should avoid direct sunlight by wearing protective clothing and an SPF of 30+. Ice packs can be used to reduce any residual post-treatment swelling.

The best way to determine the amount of downtime you’ll have after your laser rejuvenation treatment is through an in-person consultation. Treatment plans are customized on a patient-to-patient basis. Additionally, Dr. Levy may suggest combining multiple laser technologies into a single session. Levy Dermatology is committed to providing the best outcome with the least amount of recovery so you can get back to your life as quickly as possible.
