What Can Dermal Fillers Be Used For?
There are numerous kinds of dermal fillers available, each with unique benefits. At Levy Dermatology, we use dermal fillers to correct many facial concerns, including:
Lines and Wrinkles
Several types of dermal fillers treat deep lines and wrinkles, while others treat small wrinkles around the mouth. Dermal fillers are often used to treat nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and other deep creases. These injectable treatments can leave you looking naturally younger and more refreshed.
Volume Restoration
Age often causes loss of facial volume. Dermal fillers can replace volume in many areas where it is often lost. Many people often have dermal filler injections to restore more contoured, youthful cheeks or fill in hollow-looking temples.
Enhancement
Your expert injector can use dermal fillers to sculpt and add volume to your features. Several dermal filler formulas plump the lips with soft, flexible volume. Others provide sturdy, resilient volume for the cheeks, chin, and other areas.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Dermal fillers are offered in a wide range of materials, ensuring your provider has the right one for any application. At Levy Dermatology, we offer dermal fillers that use hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite.
Hyaluronic Acid
This dermal filler material is a molecule found naturally in the human body. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture and holds it in the skin. It is the active ingredient in dermal fillers like Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Belotero Balance®. The majority of dermal filler injections use hyaluronic acid fillers, and results usually last six months to a year.
Calcium Hydroxylapatite
This material makes an excellent choice for some applications, especially lines and wrinkles on the lower half of the face. Radiesse® uses this material, which is also found in bone. When used as a dermal filler, it comes as microspheres embedded in a flexible gel. Results can last two years or more.
