What Causes Facial Volume Loss?
Losing facial volume due to age happens to most people. The skin’s support network of fat and collagen breaks down with age, leaving the skin with less fullness and less support. This can lead to skin that looks loose and areas of the face that look hollow or less full than they used to.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work for Facial Volume Loss?
Dermal fillers act by plumping and lifting the areas of lost facial volume. While some act immediately, others can take several weeks to start seeing results.
Juvederm® Family of Fillers
These fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a molecule that bonds with moisture and pulls it into the skin, adding volume and hydration. The family has a filler for almost every area of the face, from the lips and chin to around the eyes.
Restylane® Family of Fillers
These hyaluronic acid fillers also offer a variety of formulas so your provider can find the one that will work best for you. While they are similar to Juvederm®, many providers prefer one over the other depending on the application.
Radiesse®
This formula consists of microspheres of calcium hydroxyapatite, a material already found in the body and a powerful collagen stimulator. Instead of seeing results right away, you will need to wait several weeks, but results can last up to two years.
BELOTERO BALANCE®
This hyaluronic acid filler specializes in nasolabial folds, the deep creases that run from the corners of the nose to the edges of the mouth. Its special texture makes it well-suited for this particular application.
