The summer season might be wrapping up, but that doesn’t mean shaving and waxing stops. If you have unwanted body hair, it might feel like you’re spending all of your time grooming or removing hair from your body.

That’s why it may be time to consider laser hair removal, especially as we dive into the cooler months. Let’s walk through how laser hair removal works, including what to expect during your laser hair removal treatment!

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal works by using pulses of laser heat energy to target and eventually destroy unwanted hair follicles.

This heat energy zaps the hair follicle right at its very root, causing the hair to fall out over the next week after the laser hair removal treatment. The hair follicle grows back, but here’s the thing: it grows back at a slower rate. That’s when you’ll go for your next laser hair removal treatment, where the new hair follicle will be treated and made to fall out.

After repeating this treatment process a few times, the hair follicle regrowth is eventually slowed so much that it takes weeks – even months – for the hair to grow back!

What to Expect During Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment

Your laser hair removal treatment may take anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes to complete, depending on the body area you’re treating.

You’ll be asked to wear eye protection, especially if you’re treating a body area that’s near your eyes. A special cooling device may be used throughout the treatment to help keep you comfortable.

After your procedure, you can use cooling packs to help stave off redness and discomfort.

We typically recommend three to twelve laser hair removal treatments (spaced six weeks apart) for clients to see their ideal results.
