Lines, wrinkles, and loss of facial volume can cause you to look older and more tired than you feel. Dermal fillers can enhance your features and soften even deep lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. When choosing a dermal filler, your provider will consider the pros and cons of each to select the best one for you.

What are Dermal Fillers?

With age, your skin loses collagen, resulting in skin laxity and loss of volume in areas like the cheeks. Dermal fillers enhance facial volume, lifting lines and wrinkles from beneath and giving lips, cheeks, and other features a youthful fullness. Dermal fillers use bio-compatible materials safe for long-term use. Some dermal fillers add volume directly, while others trigger collagen production to build natural enhancement.

Dermal Fillers: Which One is Right For Me?

Your Levy Dermatology provider will consider several factors when choosing a dermal filler. Each dermal filler works best in particular areas of the face, and some last longer than others. The best choice will give you the results you want.

Juvederm®

The most popular dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid, a molecule found naturally in your skin. Each member of the Juvederm® family of fillers uses a different configuration of this molecule for different properties. Members include Vollure, Voluma, and Volbella. Results can last from six months to two years or more.

Restylane®

The Restylane® family of fillers also uses hyaluronic acid formulas. It includes Kysse, a popular lip filler with excellent flexibility and smoothness for natural-looking enhancement. You can see results from Restylane® Kysse for six to eight months

Belotero Balance®

Belotero Balance® also uses hyaluronic acid. It works especially well for thin-skinned areas such as under the eyes. Like other dermal fillers that require fluidity and smoothness for delicate areas, it usually lasts about six months.

Am I a Candidate for Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers have an excellent safety record, and most people make good candidates. While dermal fillers work well for those with lines and wrinkles, even young people enjoy the benefits of a lip or other facial enhancements.

Is There Any Downtime With Dermal Fillers?

The most common effects after dermal fillers include minor bruising, redness, or sensitivity at the injection sites. This usually resolves within a day or two.
