Where Science Meets Beautiful Skin

Restylane®

What is Restylane®?

Restylane® is designed to smooth wrinkles, sculpt lips and shape facial contours. It is a clear, synthetic gel made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found throughout your body. It carries little risk of allergic reaction. The most common areas for treatment are the lips, the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane remains in your skin for many months.

What is Restylane® made of?

Restylane® is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA, or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

How is Restylane® different than other hyaluronic acid-based products?

Unlike other hyaluronic acid-based products, such as those made from rooster combs, only Restylane® is non-animal-based. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.

What should patients do prior to treatment?

Restylane® requires no pretesting, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. St. John's Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements unless specifically told to take them by a physician prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there ia a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.

Are there any side effects?

There are very few. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two or three days.

Can Restylane® be used anywhere on the face?

Restylane® has been used in more than one million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance and fullness of lips. However, it is currently indicated in the U.S. only for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

How long does Restylane® last?

Studies have shown that the average treatment results last six months or even longer. The unique NASHA technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.

How often should I have Restylane® treatment done?

Restylane® lasts twice as long as collagen, so treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.

Do the injections hurt?

Restylane® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, your physician may anesthetize the treatment area.

The wait is over. Now that you have the answers to some important questions, why wait? Restylane® is a safe, natural formulation, so there are no delays for allergy testing prior to treatment. The simple procedure can be done during your work day. And the effects are immediate!

Perlane®

Perlane, like Restylane is a dermal filler and is a long-lasting gel that, once injected into the skin with an ultra-fine needle, lifts and adds volume and help diminsh fine lines. Made of a natural substance called hyaluronic acid, it is a completely safe treatment. The hyaluronic acid in Perlane simply supplements the body's age-depleted hyaluronic acid to plump-up the lip or to raise the skin and 'fill in' the particular wrinkle being treated.

The difference between Restylane and Perlane is the size of the particle (with Perlane containing more hyaluronic acid). This means that Perlane does a better job of filling deep lines while Restylane is used in fine lines or in thin skinned people.

This product will last between six and nine months, although individuals will have varied results.

Perlane is an excellent treatment for wrinkle correction, lip enhancement, smile lines and deep folds.
